Holding on to Summer

So, I always make things for other people. And, very rarely for myself. But, I’m learning how to treat myself at least as good as I treat other people so I decided to make a quilt just for me. I have a few of the quilts that I’ve made but, they were usually an experiment or trying out a creative idea. But, they were not an “I am so in love with this fabric” or even a simple “I’m in love with this quilt” kind of quilt relationship.

Anyhow, I kept eying a particular Fat Quarter pack of the Michael Miller Summer Soiree fabric by Paula Prass with all the yellows and blacks and grays. They are not usually my favorite colors BUT, every time I looked at this combination of fabrics, I got all giddy inside. So, not knowing exactly what I would do with them at the time I broke down and bought it. I laid them by my bed at night (maybe that’s why I dream of quilts) and would look at them when I woke up just waiting for inspiration to hit. Then, it hit me! (Duh!) This is going to be MY quilt! I’m so excited. The colors are all bright and summery and this is going to be perfect as the winter approaches. It’s going to be my little piece of summer during the short days of winter! I’m so excited, I’m going to border these in black and gray to make it a little more winter quilt appropriate. 🙂

And, this will be my first, ‘take pictures of all the stages and blog about it’ quilt.

Anyhow, I hope you enjoy watching!
